Chefs of the Future
of the Future is an opportunity for apprentice chefs from the greater Sunraysia
region to showcase their skills and talents; and for their friends, family and
the general public to watch them do it.
Apprentices firstly compete within their year level, with winners and runners
up from each level heat progressing to the final. The final is open to the
public, with food and drink served, live music performed and competitive food
made in view of the audience. The winner of the final is crowned "Chef of the
The judging panel consists of local executive chefs, hospitality identities,
trainers and teachers.
Participants are judged on hygiene, OHS, presentation, temperature, taste,
texture and appropriate use of product.
Chefs of the Future is an ideal way for employers to acknowledge the
achievements of their apprentices.
Benjamin Dawes was the toast of the hospitality industry after he was crowned
SuniTAFE’s 2013 Chefs of the Future winner.
Ben’s winning dishes included a main of braised goat with fire roasted peppers,
grilled polenta and fresh rocket and salsa verde and a dessert of Almond and
vanilla panna cotta with candied orange, almond praline and persimmon.
