Mildura Region Transport and Logistics Cluster
The Mildura Region Transport and Logistics Cluster (MRTaLC) is an action
group that develops strategies and initiatives to strengthen the region's
transport and logistics industry. It was founded in July 2007, and is proudly
hosted by SuniTAFE.
The Cluster's current areas of focus are:
CROSS BORDER ANOMALIES
Working with key bodies to streamline state regulations for the heavy vehicle
industry.
INFRASTRUCTURE
Working with local and state governments to identify, prioritise and develop
appropriate heavy vehicle access infrastructure.
SKILLS SHORTAGES
Developing strategies to fill existing and future needs for skilled labour.
INDUSTRY IMAGE
Promoting a positive image of the transport profession to the community.
The Cluster was established through funding from the Victorian Department of
Innovation, Industry and Regional Development; Skills Victoria (then OTTE) via
SuniTAFE; Mildura Development Corporation (then SMEDB); Mildura Rural City
Council; and local industry.
It currently serves Mildura and the surrounding part of Victoria. It is hoped
that it's operations will extend into neighbouring areas in the future,
strengthening the region as a whole.
The Cluster believes that Mildura is in a key strategic position to develop into
a national transport and logistics hub. To achieve this, it believes
collaboration within the industry is essential as is partnerships with local,
state and federal government.
