This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people. Work involves using discretion and judgement in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs.


This qualification can lead to positions such as, Personal Care Assistant, Nurse's Aide, Family Support Worker, Residential Care worker, Transport Support Worker, or Field Officer (Community Services).


Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) offers a pathway option into Certificate IV in Allied Health assistance, Certificate IV in Disability; Diploma of Nursing and Certificate IV in Ageing Support.

Course Delivery

Mildura: This program will be delivered at Mildura campus over a 5 month period with 120 hours practical placement working in a residential facility. Mildura NIGHT CLASS: This program will be delivered at Mildura over a 18 month period, two nights per week, with 120 hours practical placement working in a residential facility. Swan Hill: This program will be delivered at the Swan Hill campus over 12 months. This includes 120 hours of practical placement working in a relevant support services facility.

Entry Requirements

Each student will undertake a Pre-Training Review before enrolling to help confirm if the proposed course is suitable. It will provide valuable information about an individual's existing skills and knowledge, language, literacy and numeracy skills and whether the course will help in achieving learning and/or employment goals. Students must be 18 years at commencement of study and provide a Working with Children Check. Students must be willing to obtain an NDIS Worker Screening Check, which will include a criminal history check, prior to practical placement. Students will be responsible for all cost associated with obtaining the NDIS Worker Screening Check, Police Check and Working with Children Check. 120 hours of work placement is required for successful completion of this course.
