This qualification reflects the role of individuals in a variety of Business Services job roles. It is likely that these individuals are establishing their own work performance. Individuals in these roles carry out a range of routine procedural, clerical, administrative or operational tasks that require technology and business skills. They apply a broad range of competencies using some discretion, judgment and relevant theoretical knowledge. They may provide technical advice and support to a team.
This course will assist trainees to develop practical skills in general administration and office support roles, such as Clerk, Data Entry Operator, Junior Personal Assistant, Receptionist, Office Administration Assistant, Office Administrator, Word Processing Operator.
Students who have completed the Certificate III in Business could further their studies with enrolment into areas such as Certificate IV in Leadership and Management or Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping.
This course is completed via a traineeship, where you are employed in a business and can learn a broad range of business skills in the workplace and via study. Training will be supported by workplace visits, emails, phone calls and Zoom video calls from your trainer or assessor. Intakes are ongoing throughout the year, and commencement occurs after the training contract is received by the Institute.
At the commencement of the traineeship the trainee and employer will be required to sign a training agreement which specifies the duration and type of training arrangements entered into and comply with Institute requirements. Each student will undertake a Pre-Training Review before enrolling to help confirm the proposed course is suitable. It will provide valuable information about an individual's existing skills and knowledge, language, literacy and numeracy skills and whether the course will help in achieving learning and/or employment goals.
