Destination Australia scholarships are an Australian Government initiative to attract and support Australian students to study in regional Australia at quality tertiary education providers.
Sunraysia Institute of TAFE has 1 partial Destination Australia scholarships, valued at $15,000, to award to a domestic student studying an eligible full-time Certificate IV or Diploma level qualifications at our Swan Hill Campus.
To be eligible for one of SuniTAFE’s Destination Australia scholarships you must:
• Be an Australian citizen or
o Permanent resident of Australia
o Permanent Humanitarian Visa Holder
o New Zealand Citizen resident in Australia
• Be deemed suitable for enrolment into your proposed course and offered a place in the course
• Live in the Swan Hill or Mildura regional area for the duration of the course/scholarship.
This is a partial scholarship available to students who have at least one year remaining in their course of study.
Destination Australia Scholarships for domestic students are aligned to the National Skills Priority List. Possible study areas are:
• Nursing
• Community Services
• Early Childhood Education and Care
• Beauty Therapy
• Information Technology
• Mental Health
Applications will be assessed against the personal statement and shortlisted applicants will be interviewed. Scholarships will be prioritised for students from under-represented groups including:
• Low socio-economic background
• Students of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander origin
• Students living with a disability
• Students who are first in family to undertake tertiary studies
• Students from culturally and linguistically diverse communities
• Family violence survivors
All applicants will be required to support their application through the provision of evidence to demonstrate their personal situation.
In order to accept and take up the Destination Australia Scholarship, successful applicants must:
• Finalise their enrolment via payment of required course tuition and material fees.
• Complete and return the Scholarship Acceptance Agreement and required scholarship forms.
• Maintain an active enrolled status in the course of study for the duration of the scholarship. The scholarship may cease if the enrolment status becomes inactive.
• Be living in a regional area for the duration of their course.
• Destination Australia Scholarships cannot be deferred, and if the successful applicant does not finalise their enrolment within three weeks of the scholarship offer being made, the offer will be withdrawn.
• If the scholarship holder transfers to a new course, the scholarship cannot be transferred, and ceases with no further funding provided.
• If the scholarship holder withdraws from their course, or fails to continue to meet the eligibility requirements of the scholarship, the scholarship will cease and the scholarship holder will not receive any further funding support.
Scholarship funds will be transferred directly via electronic funds to the scholarship holder’s Australian bank account in six monthly instalments after the first payment is made.
