Overview

The Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade gives you the skills and knowledge you need to start your career as a qualified engineering tradesperson. You will learn how to design, assemble, manufacture, install, modify, test, troubleshoot, commission, maintain and service all mechanical equipment, machinery, fluid power systems, stationary and mobile equipment, instruments and refrigeration as well as the use of computer controlled machine tools, worksite OH&S and communication.

This qualification could lead to employment as a qualified engineering tradesperson (mechanical) in a number of different industrial or manufacturing settings. You will gain employable skills but you will also be equipped with the basic knowledge to proceed into further education in this area. You might like to think about a direct pathway into the Certificate IV in Engineering.

Course Delivery

This qualification takes 3 years to complete as an Apprentice.

Entry Requirements

Students must be currently employed as an Apprentice with a Australian Apprenticeship Support Network Provider. Each student will undertake a Pre-Training Review before enrolling to help confirm the proposed course is suitable. It will provide valuable information about an individual's existing skills and knowledge, language, literacy and numeracy skills and whether the course will help in achieving learning and/or employment goals.
