This qualification reflects the varied roles of individuals across different industry sectors who apply a broad range of competencies using some discretion, judgment and relevant theoretical knowledge. They may provide technical advice and support to a team.


This course will assist in developing practical skills in general administration and office support roles, such as Clerk, Data Entry Operator, Junior Personal Assistant, Receptionist, Office Administration Assistant, Office Administrator, Word Processing Operator.


Students who have completed the Certificate III in Business could further their studies with enrolment into areas such as Certificate IV in Leadership and Management and Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping.

Course Delivery

This course is completed via traineeship and flexible/online delivery.

Entry Requirements

Each student will undertake a Pre-Training Review before enrolling to help confirm the proposed course is suitable. It will provide valuable information about an individual's existing skills and knowledge, language, literacy and numeracy skills and whether the course will help in achieving learning and/or employment goals. TRAINEE: Legislative requirements with respect to age may apply. An employee employed under the Australian Apprenticeship Scheme. Trainees may be school based, full time or part time. At the commencement of the traineeship the trainee and employer will be required to sign a training agreement which specifies the duration and type of training arrangements entered into and comply with Institute requirements. FLEXI/ONLINE: Be able to access and use a personal computer, including basic word processing, spreadsheet, email programs and internet search engines, have a demonstrated capacity in learning, reading, writing, oracy competencies to Level 3 and numeracy Level 2 of the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF), employment in a position that provides access to office administration environment/activities and undertake an interview process that assesses the applicant's skills.
