This practical based course has been developed with industry outcomes in mind - giving you the best opportunity to succeed in the ever changing, innovative world of design. You will combine conceptual and creative skills with technical knowledge, to generate visual communication solutions for a range of industry and community-based design challenges, along with exploring design, business and entrepreneurship skills. Students have opportunity to develop and expand their design practice and style, whilst preparing artwork for digital and print media. The creative design process is applied to typography, branding, illustration, 3D and digital design projects, with assessments underpinned by the application of design theory and research.
Future career options include roles as designers/finished artists in the print and media industries or use your skills as an entrepreneur in the creative arts.
No formal pathways to higher education but students will produce a professional portfolio of work to meet entry requirements into a variety of Bachelor level courses.
This full time course will be delivered in a classroom environment over four days per week. This course is an approved VET- FEE HELP/ VET Student Loan course. The Vet Student Loan maximum tuition fee cap is five thousand dollars.
Applicants will need to book for a portfolio interview. In their portfolios, individuals must provide evidence of their technical skills and ability to: -produce a minimum of three (3) examples of graphic design work that respond effectively to different design challenges, -produce typography that supports the overall design solution and use graphic design industry software. Each student will undertake a Pre-Training Review before enrolling to help confirm the proposed course is suitable. It will provide valuable information about an individual's existing skills and knowledge, language, literacy and numeracy skills and whether the course will help in achieving learning and/or employment goals.
