Overview

The Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade gives you the training you need to start your career as a qualified engineering tradesperson. You will develop your skills in metal fabrication, sheet metal work, welding and the use of related computer controlled equipment as well as worksite OH&S and communication.

Careers

Employment outcomes can be found in a wide variety of manufacturing and engineering related sectors as well as Engineering Tradesperson – Fabrication roles in other industries. Occupational titles may include metal fabrication tradesperson, boilermaker, 1st class sheet metal worker, 1st class welder, moulder, foundry tradesperson and patternmaker.

Course Delivery

Apprentices are signed up for 4 years however this package is competency based meaning some apprentices may complete in less time. Practical tasks will be carried out in the workshop, practical tasks may be assessed on-site where appropriate for some units. The program will be delivered over a period of 208 weeks. This course is currently in transition; the course code, title, units and content may change in the future and further information will be provided upon enrolment and/or during the course of your training.

Entry Requirements

Each applicant will be required to undertake a Pre-training Review before enrolling to help confirm if the proposed course is suitable. It will provide valuable information about skills, knowledge, language, literacy and numeracy skills and whether the course will help in achieving learning and employment goals. Apprentices must have a registered training contract agreement with their employer.
