Overview

On completion of this course, you will be able to service and repair the mechanical parts of motor vehicles such as the engine, transmission and suspension systems. Repair and service cooling systems, fuel systems, air conditioning and emission control systems, braking systems, final drive assemblies and steering systems. You will also acquire skills in repairing ignition, electronic engine management and electrical systems.

This qualification prepares you for the automotive service and repairs industry, working specifically with light vehicles, as an automotive light vehicle mechanical repair technician.

Further training pathways from this qualification include Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis.

Information for International Students

Students must be at least 18 years old when they commence studies.

This course incorporates practical instruction in a training workshop. Work-based training in industry is not included.

Students are recommended to purchase steel-capped boots to wear in class.

English Proficiency     IELTS 5.5 or equivalent test score, or successful completion of Upper Intermediate ELICOS at Sunraysia Institute of TAFE.

Academic Requirements Completion of equivalent of Australian Year 11.
Study Mode Full-time, face to face, 20.5 hours per week. Classes are timetabled 3 days per week.
