The Certificate III in Horticulture provides you with the skills and knowledge you need to start your career in horticulture. The program is primarily delivered at the fully equipped SuniTAFE Training Farm and students are given hands on opportunities to experience and learn in a real farm environment. For trainees this course is designed to be delivered flexibly with predominantly workplace based projects to suit the needs of individuals and their work schedules in the horticultural industry. The Sunitafe farm provides exposure to some of the latest technology in horticulture and is a good adjunct to the workplace for practical experience.
This qualification could lead to employment as a horticulturalist in farming, gardening, nursery or any one of a number of varied roles within the industry.
This qualification can lead to further study in a Certificate IV level in Horticulture or other Horticulture industry specific qualification at Certificate IV level.
Students must be at least 18 years old when they commence studies. SuniTAFE operates a 30 hectare commercial horticulture farm at Cardross which is 7 kilometres away from the Mildura campus. Students will undertake training and practical classes at the farm. The Institute has a minibus so students can get to the farm for classes. Students are recommended to purchase work boots for classes on the farm.
