2022 AUS-TAFE Culinary Trophy

Our SuniTAFE hospitality students headed to Bendigo this week to compete in the AUS-TAFE Culinary Trophy State Final at Bendigo TAFE.
All Victorian TAFE’s are invited to send up to 8 representatives to compete for the trophy and winners go on to represent the state at the national finals later in the year.

The event is open to 1st, 2nd and 3rd Year Apprentice Chefs and medals are awarded based on overall score and an outright winner determined by the highest score out of 100.
Internal competitions to select the SuniTAFE team were held and there have been two training sessions each in preparation.  Students are required to bring all their own equipment and food for the competition so it is super important to be prepared.

The team:
Shaun Watters – 1st year Apprentice – The Corporate Moose
Niclolas Coe – 2nd year Apprentice – Mallee Track Health & Community Service
Jaivon Stacey – 3rd Year Apprentice – Brother Chris
Shapo Jigdak – Cookery student – Stefano

The competition is halfway with two competitors completing their sessions and our other two currently in the kitchen.
Shaun Watters and Nicholas Coe have competed in the 1st and 2nd year divisions.
