Graduation and Awards celebration for SuniTAFE's Mildura Campus

The achievements of SuniTAFE students, industry partners and staff for the 2021 academic year was celebrated last night.

SuniTAFE Graduation and Awards is an important event on the calendar and on the back of Education Week, a good opportunity to profile and celebrate the strengths and achievements of Victoria's education system.  This year we were pleased to return to the Mildura Arts Centre after holding a virtual event in 2021 due to COVID restrictions.

The event recognised the hard work and determination of students, during another challenging year.  It also acknowledged employers, parents, friends and family who supported and contributed to the students individual outcomes.

At the Mildura Campus in 2021 144 students completed their studies from 15 diploma and advanced diploma qualifications.  53 students from 18 traineeships and apprenticeships completed their studies.  13 student awards and 4 scholarships were presented to deserving students.

Colleen Miceli had triple the celebrations, graduating from the Diploma of Nursing and scoop two awards for Student of the Year (Diploma) and Health High Achiever.  Colleen is mature aged and leads by example, proactive and has the ability to independently, yet still under supervision, care for and advocate for her patients.  She is now a part time Enolled Nurse in the Aged Care sector.

Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical student Mitchell Bysouth also had lots to celebrate, winning Apprentice of the Year for the third consecutive year.  Starting as a school-based apprentice with the family business, Bysouth Garage, Mitchell has completed his apprenticeship to a high standard.  Due to COVID lockdowns and border restrictions Mitchell missed 4 blocks of training and still managed to complete his studies 5 months early, becoming fully qualified in October 2021.

SuniTAFE Board and staff are grateful for the support of all the award sponsors and proud of all the graduating students and award winners.
