SuniTAFE is in the running for two awards at this years Victorian Training Awards.

Backing on the success of SuniTAFE winning the 2019 title of Large Training Provider of the Year at the Victorian and Australian Training Awards, SuniTAFE is as proud as punch to be shortlisted in 2020 as a category finalist for the Industry Collaboration Award and Koorie Student of the Year Award categories.

The Industry Collaboration Award highlights the successful aged care leadership development collaboration formed between SuniTAFE and 4 aged care providers in the region: Princes Court, Chaffey Aged Care, Jacaranda Village and Murray House.  The project identified common problems across the 4 providers to deliver skills, training and education solutions.

A key project milestone was the delivery of targeted training for existing team leaders, supervisors and managers in Certificate IV in Leadership and Management on-site across all respective aged care facilities.  "The project has set a standard for leadership in aged care, enabling a workforce that can successfully meet the dynamics of the sector and its future growth" said Geoff Dea, SuniTAFE CEO.

SuniTAFE's Koorie Student of the Year finalist is Certificate III in Commercial Cookery student Elva Smerotkins.  Juggling full time study, children and carer for her husband, Elva brings fierce passion to class and a charitable spirit.  "Elva's practical work is always top tier, she often scores at the top of the class and puts time, effort and love into her cooking" said Dalton Kendrigan, SuniTAFE hospitality teacher.

"SuniTAFE is furthering its reputation as a leading provider of skills and training in the region.  It's pleasing to be recognised for our hard work and dedicated students" said Mr Dea.

Now in their 66th year, the Victorian Training Awards recognise and honour the outstanding achievements of individuals and organisations in the Victorian TAFE and training sector.
Winners will be announced as part of a new, virtual format.
