VET Delivered to Secondary Students (previously VETiS)

Secondary schools seeking to widen their curriculum are able to access a variety of Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses through SuniTAFE. Vocational training for school students provides training from National Training Packages, under the National Skills Framework (NSF) as part of their VCE or VCAL qualifications.

As a Registered Training Organisation, SuniTAFE offers secondary students access to a range of industry competencies and career pathways. Exposure to industry style experience expands students’ workplace awareness and confidence. Schools benefit through access to SuniTAFE’s industry expertise and specialised infrastructure and teaching equipment.

There are two options for schools to access VET training through SuniTAFE:

  1. Full delivery by SuniTAFE.
Students are enrolled at SuniTAFE, attend SuniTAFE campus classes on a weekly basis, and are taught by SuniTAFE teaching staff. Under this arrangement, a contract is drawn up between SuniTAFE and the secondary school, and SuniTAFE provides all VET training and assessment, and is responsible for the issue of qualifications and/or statements of attainment following completion of training.
  2. Full delivery within a school under the auspice of SuniTAFE.
Students are enrolled at SuniTAFE, but attend VET classes at their school, taught by school teaching staff. SuniTAFE is responsible for ensuring the standard of training received meets national requirements.
Under this arrangement, a contract is drawn up between SuniTAFE and the secondary school and SuniTAFE undertakes quality monitoring and evaluating of the school’s VET delivery. SuniTAFE is responsible for the issue of qualifications and/or statements of attainment following completion of training.
