Certificate III in Individual Support

This course provides skills for entry-level roles in aged care facilities, community care services, or in-home support. If you're already working in the industry, it will help formalise your knowledge and advance your career. To achieve this qualification, students are required to complete at least 120 hours of work placement, organised by SuniTAFE, in an aged care residential facility. Students must meet placement requirements before commencing practical training and will be responsible for all costs associated with obtaining requirements. Students unable to provide evidence required by employers to complete practical placement may not be able to complete the practical placement component of the qualification. Students are supplied with a placement top and are advised to wear black slacks and enclosed black flat shoes.

This qualification can lead to positions such as: Personal Care Assistant, Nurse's Aide, Support Worker, Residential Care worker, Transport Support Worker, or Field Officer (Community Services).

This course may offer a pathway option into Certificate IV in Disability, Certificate IV in Aging Support, Certificate IV in Allied Health assistance and Diploma of Nursing.

Applicants are required to undertake a language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) assessment. The LLN assessment helps identify whether a student may need additional support during their studies and ensures they are placed into a course that is appropriate for their skill level. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and willing to provide a clear police check, NDIS Worker Screening Check and proof of up-to-date immunisation status prior to practical placement, if requested by the employer. Students are also required to have access to a computer and internet.
