VET Student Loans Eligibility

Are you eligible?
Students that would like to apply for a VET Student Loan are required to complete and submit the VET Student Loans Request form and supporting evidence to the Customer Service team for assessment of eligibility.
A student may be eligible for a VET Student Loan if they are:

  • an Australian citizen; or
  • hold a permanent humanitarian visa and usually reside in Australia; or
  • a qualifying New Zealand citizen is a New Zealand citizen

Students will also need to have:

  • been assessed as academically suited to undertake the eligible course
  • available a HELP loan limit that is more than $0
  • not accessed all the VET Student Loan cap for the course

Academic suitability is determined by students undertaking a formal literacy and numeracy assessment as outlined in the Pre-Training Review Procedure.

Students under the age of 18 years must also provide a VET Student Loans Parental Consent form completed by a responsible parent or Centrelink proof of independence.
