This qualification reflects the role of allied health assistants who provide therapeutic and program related support to persons, in the health, aged care, disability and any other settings where Allied Health Professionals provide services. Allied Health Assistants work under the delegation and supervision of Allied Health Professionals and assist in identifying circumstances and risks and report issues. They may be engaged to work in single discipline or multidisciplinary roles not limited to health, aged care or disability services and other settings and may also have responsibility for other allied health assistance workers according to their scope of practice. To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of clinical placement as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency.
Students will be qualified to work as an Allied Health Assistant, supporting Allied Health Professionals in a variety of health areas including disability, aged care, acute care and community health.
Certificate III in Individual Support, Certificate IV in Ageing Support, Certificate IV in Disability Support, Diploma of Community Services or Diploma of Nursing
Classroom - Training will be delivered on site at SuniTAFE.
Applicants are required to undertake a Pre-Training Review and LLN assessment onsite to help confirm the course is suitable. Applicants must be able to provide a current clear Police Check as part of their application and are responsible for all costs associated. Prior to undertaking practical placement, applicants must be willing to provide a Working with Children Check and must be willing to obtain NDIS Worker Screening Check, applicants are responsible for all costs associated. Applicants must be willing to provide proof of their up-to-date immunisation status including Covid-19 to employers to undertake practical placement, if requested. Applicants must have access to a computer and the internet. Students must be aware that manual handling is a requirement of this qualification when learning and assessing therapy tasks. Students must be physically capable of participating in activities, including but not limited to, transferring persons using equipment, assisting people to complete exercise programs, and assisting people with daily living needs.
