SuniTAFE was host to a delegation of educators from Sichuan Province’s Lezhi Senior Vocational Middle School this week for a Teacher Training Program and an introduction to the Victorian Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector.
The visit comes after SuniTAFE’s Manager – International Camille Mansell visited the school in March to give a presentation on Australia’s VET system, and SuniTAFE signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the school.
The delegation consisted of Lezhi Senior Vocational Middle School’s Principal and Vice Dean - Teaching Department, as well as Information Technology and Automotive teachers.
While on campus, the group participated in professional development sessions and workshop tours hosted by key SuniTAFE educators, including in the departments of Business Studies, Automotive, Hospitality, Horticulture, and Information Technology.
Victoria is a sister state to Sichuan Province, and the visit was designed to build upon the existing relationship between SuniTAFE and Lezhi Senior Vocational Middle School.
The visit provided a new way for both parties to collaborate, creating a forum for discussions around the benefit of practical training models informed by industry engagement.
While on campus, the representatives met with executives, including Chief Executive Officer Brett Millington to learn about SuniTAFE.
“It is an honour to host Principal Xie and his team for this important cross-cultural exchange,” he said.
“Our recently signed MoU is quickly being implemented with this teacher training program and chance to showcase all that SuniTAFE, and the region, has to offer.
“We have had a significant International Program at SuniTAFE for many years and these relationships seek to strengthen those ties and opportunities.”
The delegation is scheduled to depart Mildura on Tuesday 24 June and will be spending the rest of their time in Mildura seeing popular sites.
