Healy’s Lane Mural Painting

Healy’s Lane Mural Painting
SuniTAFE students spent last week painting a large-scale mural in Healy’s Lane as part of a Mildura City Heart and Cultivator Inc. initiative. The project is titled “Streets of Your Town.”

This project was inspired by artist Anita Laurence who ran lino printmaking workshops in 2022 with students from SuniTAFE, Irymple Secondary College, and eager community members.

The prints from these workshops were later scanned and collaged to create the urban and suburban streetscapes that have been projected, and now painted, onto the walls of Healy's Lane.

The mural painting got a kick start with assistance from Victorian Certificate of Education-Vocational Major students and staff from SuniTAFE who tackled one side of the 4.3m wall over a few days, working alongside artist Anita Laurence.

Graphic design and visual arts students were also involved in projecting and painting processes.

This project presented SuniTAFE students with a great opportunity for community involvement. It also provides them with a sense of pride and ownership in knowing that they contributed to this lasting piece of art.

Healy’s Lane is located between Commonwealth Bank and CVGT Employment on Lime Avenue.
