New International Students Welcomed at SuniTAFE

16 May 2024

SuniTAFE’s international student cohort expanded last month with 14 newcomers joining the Mildura campus.

The students bring with them diverse life experiences, having travelled from Vietnam, Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Philippines, and India to study at SuniTAFE.

Once graduated, the new students will join the community as qualified chefs, mechanics, early childhood educators, horticultural workers, and aged carers.

SuniTAFE’s international courses are designed to attract people to the area and provide them with the vital skills they need to fill in-demand positions in local industry.

International student alumni have gone on to work in local restaurants, mechanical businesses, and farms which all contribute to the social and economic development of the region.

For now, the students are concerned with getting immersed in SuniTAFE life and settling into the Mildura community where they will live for the next two years.

The students were invited to an International Orientation Day earlier this month designed to show them everything they will need to thrive during their studies.

This included workshops concerned with policy and procedures for international students, cultural awareness training, along with jobs and employment information to consider while studying.

Students were also delivered an official welcome by General Manager – Operations David Harris to formally induct them into the SuniTAFE community.
