New International Students welcomed to SuniTAFE
International students from more than 10 different countries have found their feet at SuniTAFE over the past several weeks.

In January, SuniTAFE welcomed 17 new international students to the Mildura Campus where they got to know one another on the official International Orientation Day ahead of beginning classes in their chosen field.
This year students have enrolled in Kitchen Management, Horticulture, Automotive, English and for the first time since 2021, Early Childhood Education and Care.

International Manager Camille Mansell said Orientation Day was a great chance for students to not only view the campus but to make a new friend or two.

“Our aims for Orientation Day are they make a friend on their first day, get them excited about coming to SuniTAFE and make sure they have all the information they will need ahead of their first day of classes,” she said.

“Students also have the opportunity to participate in our Free City Tour, which gives them a tour of Mildura and shows them what the region has to offer.”

Camille said it’s a pleasure meeting students from all over the world, who have all come to Mildura for the same reason and that is to study at SuniTAFE.

“This year our new students are from Colombia, Fiji, Philippines, Kenya, Vietnam, Nepal, Thailand, India, Tonga, Fiji, Taiwan, Mauritius and England,” Camille said.

“It’s great to have that diversity.

“We have found that many of our new students have family or friends here in the region so that is another big factor of why Mildura and studying at SuniTAFE is so appealing.

“Students are also really attracted to the fact that SuniTAFE is a government and public institute that has quality courses and great employment outcomes. The ability to find work in the region is often quite appealing to students.

“Education agents are happy to recommend students to come to us because they know we will take care of them.”

The next intake of international students will be in April, with students also able to study a variety of courses from July Including courses in Horticulture, Automotive, Kitchen Management, Aged Care and English.

A limited number of Destination Australia Scholarships are available to international students commencing the Certificate IV in Kitchen Management in 2024.
