14 Mar 2024

If you are looking to advance your education, prepare for employment, gain job-ready skills or explore potential pathways to university, visiting the Skills and Jobs Centre Mobile Service on March 20 should be on the top of your to do list.

Staff from the SuniTAFE Skills and Jobs Centre will be visiting the Red Cliffs Community Centre, Langtree Mall and Rio Vista Park to provide the community, in particular post-secondary students, with an opportunity to discuss their career and study options.

“We would like to see any students who have completed their secondary schooling and are uncertain about their future plans, this includes individuals who may be unsure about their educational or career paths and could benefit from the resources, information, and opportunities available at the event,” Skills and Jobs Centre Manager Karen Chynoweth said.

“Our primary goal is to provide valuable assistance and resources to those who attend.

“At each location, attendees can expect to find Skills and Jobs Centre staff who will be available to meet with them and discuss various options and supports available. Staff members will be able to provide guidance, information, and assistance related to education, training, job opportunities, and other resources that can help individuals further their career goals.”

Ms Chynoweth said there are many benefits to those who take the opportunity to meet with the Skills and Jobs Centre staff.

“The event provides a platform for attendees to meet with the friendly staff from the Skills and Jobs Centre, who can offer information about various support services available, all of which are provided at no cost. This includes guidance on educational pathways, training opportunities and job search strategies,” she said.

“They can gain clarity on future paths, particularly post-secondary students - whether they are considering short courses during a gap year, further studies through TAFE, or seeking job readiness support, the event will provide valuable insights and guidance.

“They will receive practical support for job readiness, such as assistance with resumes, application letters, addressing key selection criteria, and participating in mock interviews. These services can help individuals feel more confident and prepared to pursue their desired roles.”

The Skills and Jobs Centre on the road events will see the van set up at the Red Cliffs Community Centre from 10.30am to 12.30pm, at the Langtree Mall from 1.30pm to 4pm and at the Rio Vista Park for the Mildura Rural City Council Mildura Corroboree from 5.30pm.

The Skills and Jobs Centre is also open daily at the SuniTAFE Mildura and Swan Hill campuses.
