SuniTAFE’s Mildura campus opened its doors to the public last week to showcase the courses on offer for 2025.
Attendees were encouraged to look to the future and consider the skills that SuniTAFE can give them today to have a successful tomorrow.
A range of engaging activities were on offer which gave visitors a sense of what they will be learning in the classroom if they study at SuniTAFE.
This included a free beauty masterclass delivered by expert teacher Jess Kendrigan, designed to show attendees how to apply glamour makeup.
SuniTAFE’s many additional services were also on site to talk to attendees, including the Skills and Jobs Centre, Student Support Services department, and Apprenticeship Support Officer.
Each service can be accessed by SuniTAFE students at any time for specialist career or wellbeing advice.
Amongst the visitors to campus were school leavers considering their post-secondary school options and those looking to upskill for their next career move.
SuniTAFE is committed to training for the skills that the region needs most, and that starts with showing potential students where TAFE training can take them at events like Open Day.
The recently released TAFE Value and Perception Challenge report found that 80% of future jobs are attainable with a TAFE education.
Additionally, close to 100% of carpenters and electricians and more than 50% of aged and disabled carers, child carers, and nurses in Australia are TAFE trained.*
SuniTAFE offers courses in each of these areas, amongst many others, and is well positioned to continue filling vital roles locally.
This year’s Open Day event was held in conjunction with La Trobe University’s Open Day to promote the educational precinct in Mildura.
SuniTAFE Chief Executive Officer Brett Millington opened the event welcoming guests to the Mildura campus.
“We are excited to welcome new people to our campus and proudly display what we have to offer,” he said.
“This includes the partnership we have with our friends at La Trobe University here at our shared education precinct.
“We have so many amazing opportunities locally for people to get involved in education.”
Anyone who missed out on Open Day is encouraged to drop in to the Mildura campus to speak to the Skills and Jobs Centre or enquire via sunitafe.edu.au.
