SuniTAFE CEO Brett Millington signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Nanjing Commercial College.
SuniTAFE representatives are in China this week to mark the launch of a suite of micro-credentials to be delivered offshore as part of the Victorian Government’s Yes to International Students Fund.
Premier Jacinta Allan is also in China this week, where she joined SuniTAFE for a Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony.
The Yes to International Students Fund is a Victorian Government initiative enabling education providers to deliver projects that develop innovative international partnerships.
SuniTAFE’s project as part of the Fund is to deliver a suite of micro-credentials on the ground in China in topics including hospitality, sustainable agriculture, and information technology.
These micro-credentials are designed to be short, intensive courses that will give students the chance to experience the quality, hands-on training delivered within the TAFE sector.
The SuniTAFE delegation visiting China for the program launch consists of CEO Brett Millington, Senior Manager Education Delivery Katrina Watt, Education Delivery Manager Hospitality Peter Webley, and International Relationships Manager Jane Zhang.
Before the first micro-credential in commercial cookery gets underway, the group are spending this week touring partner schools, with Brett signing Memorandums of Understanding with additional schools.
Brett is proud to be representing SuniTAFE and the Victorian Vocational Education and Training sector in China.
“We are very grateful to be recipients of the Yes to International Students funding support and to deliver this initial micro-credential as part of this initiative,” he said.
“To have the Premier present for the signing of two Memorandums of Understanding with our partner vocational colleges from Nanjing and Shanghai is indicative of the value the Victorian Government has placed on both the contribution of International Students to the Victorian economy, but also the role that TAFE plays in delivering quality education.
“We look forward to long and prosperous partnerships with all of our vocational education partners that we are visiting this week.”
