School is out for the TAFEKids Kindergarten class of 2024, and their successful year was celebrated in December with a graduation ceremony.
After a year filled with games, excursions, and lessons learned, the children and educators had much to celebrate.
TAFEKids is tight-knit and community-based, with many SuniTAFE staff having children who are enrolled at the Centre. On the night, there were eight SuniTAFE parents in attendance to watch their children graduate.
The students reflected on their time at TAFEKids and shared their favourite things about Kindergarten.
Mia, 5, enjoyed playing outside the most with the playground, riding bikes, jumping on the trampoline, and playing in the cubby house amongst some of her favourite outside activities.
Imogen, 5, really enjoyed playing the card game ‘Snap!’ with her friends and has become very good at the game throughout the year.
Four-year-old Elliott’s favourite excursion was to the primary school she will be attending next year because she got to play on the big, big playground.
Amythest, 5, liked to spend her time this year drawing kitty cats and playing ‘The Floor is Lava’ outside with her friends.
Five-year-old Ella’s favourite excursion this year was to the SuniTAFE Library because she likes to read books, especially Bluey books.
Kindergarten Teacher Chelsie Jensen is immensely proud of everything her pupils have achieved this year.
“It’s a pretty amazing feeling just to watch these children grow over the year, and for some of them, over the last two years,” she said.
“It’s pretty special to see all of their achievements and have the privilege of being a part of that.”
Holding a graduation ceremony for the children is a time-honoured tradition for TAFEKids.
“We want all of the children to experience a graduation because we do so much throughout the year and we really want to make the end of their time here special,” Chelsie said.
“It’s a great way for the children to wrap up their year on a high note and feel good about themselves and feel confident to go to school next year and be amazing there.”
Mildura is in good hands with these graduates, with an aspiring Wolverine, Spiderman, and Hulk in their midst.
Also amongst the children are future doctors, vets, farmers, a firefighter, and even an astronaut.
On behalf of the rest of the TAFEKids Kindergarten team, Chelsie delivered a parting message to the children.
“We always say be brave, be courageous, be the best,” she said.
“School will be so different to here, so we want them to have a wonderful time there, to learn lots, and to remember us because we truly had an amazing year or two with them.”
The team at TAFEKids constantly creates new and exciting opportunities for their enrolled children to learn, play, and explore.
