Looking for a career change?

Horticulture and other agriculture industries have a large projection of growth in the Mallee between now and 2022 (2017 Regional Skills Demand Profile, The Mallee, Victorian Skills Commissioner).

Nurture your love of the outdoors and help grow our future workforce in horticulture, agriculture, conservation and land management.

You will train students at SuniTAFE’s 24 hectare working SMART Farm in Cardross.  This is a purpose built training and research facility that showcases innovations and best practices for growing traditional and emerging crops including citrus, dried fruit, wine grapes, avocados, almonds, olives, dates and vegetables. An Industry Advisory Panel has been established for Horticulture.  Advisory Panels are critical in evaluating and enhancing the co-design of facilities, programs, courses and projects.

Do you love what you do and would like to share your knowledge to train skilled workers for your industry?

Build a rewarding career filled with opportunities to learn and collaborate.  Good teachers engage students so that they’re active and motivated to learn.  As a SuniTAFE teacher you will use your industry knowledge, experience and skills to teach students the ‘tricks of your trade.’

Under the direction of the Education Business Manager you will be required to contribute to planning, marketing, teaching and assessing qualifications.  Your training delivery plan will set out the topics you need to cover in classes and workshops.

You will assist in developing and maintaining teaching and learning resources with the Education Development Services Team and be responsible for looking after equipment used for training delivery.

The EDS Team will also support teachers with an e-learning strategy, best practice tools, 2 year Professional Development Plan/schedule and online course repository.  EDS facilitates an Annual Teacher Conference to develop teacher capability and Professional Educators College Program (PEC) to up-skill teachers via professional development opportunities to maintain professional and vocational currency.

You are encouraged to undertake professional development, network with the VET sector and local industry stakeholders such as businesses and employers, participate in committees and reference groups.  Industry Advisory Panels are critical in evaluating and enhancing programs and services.
