SuniTAFE’s SMART Farm is preparing the next generation of farm workers with the skills to transform the horticulture industry. Located on Dairtnunk Avenue, Cardross—9.2 km from the main campus (16.3 km from the Mildura CBD)—the 31.2-hectare site spans two land parcels and provides a real-world learning environment.
Horticulture is a critical part of the local and national economy, with the Sunraysia region forecast to see significant growth over the next decade. As the industry evolves, farming is no longer what it once was. The SMART Farm responds to this shift—supporting the transition from traditional, industrial-era practices to a future driven by automation, technology and data. Through training, collaboration and industry engagement, the SMART Farm connects students and growers with practical solutions, networks and expertise.
By building capability in sustainability and resource management, the SMART Farm is helping develop today’s people into tomorrow’s workforce—supporting an industry that can produce more with less while improving productivity, resilience and environmental outcomes.
