How to apply for International students

Step 1

Choose a course.

Step 2

Make sure you meet the course’s entry requirements:

You have completed an IELTS test, and have an IELTS test score equal to or greater than that required for that course. This test must have been taken no more than two years before you submit your enrolment application.

You have a Senior High School Certificate or equivalent qualification (please see our list of academic requirements).

You will be at least 18 years old when you start the course.

If you are currently studying in Australia, you can provide evidence that you have maintained satisfactory attendance and made satisfactory academic progress during all of your courses in Australia.

Step 3

Complete the following forms:

Photocopy or scan:

  • The front page of your passport (the page with your name and photo on it)
  • Your IELTS test results
  • The academic transcript of the highest qualification you have obtained

If you wish to stay at SuniTAFE’s Student Residences, please fill out and submit our 2017 International Student Residences Application Form

If you have any questions about any of these steps, please contact SuniTAFE.

Step 4

Send all the documentation listed in Step 3 via mail, email or fax to:

International Students Unit
Sunraysia Institute of TAFE
PO Box 1904

Australia

Email: international@sunitafe.edu.au

A “Letter of Offer” will be issued if your application is successful. If unsuccessful you will be notified in writing.

Step 5

Accept your offer by returning the acceptance agreement included in the Letter of Offer. Pay your first semester’s tuition fee. This cost will be mentioned in your Letter of Offer, which will also give you details on how you can make the payment.

Step 6

Organise your student visa. For more information about visas, please visit the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) website, or speak with a visa agent in your home country.

Processing Times for Applications and Visas

The International Students Unit will endeavour to issue an offer to you, or a representative if you use their services, within one working week* of receipt of your application and all supporting documentation. Delays will be experienced if forms or documentation are incomplete. The processing of your student visa by DIBP varies from country to country, so you should check with the local Australian Diplomatic Mission for advice on normal visa processing times.

*Please note: SuniTAFE is closed on Saturdays, Sundays and Victorian public holidays.

Notification of Address

Under Australian Government student visa regulations, you must register your residential address and phone number with the International Students Unit at SuniTAFE within seven days of arriving in Australia. You must also notify SuniTAFE in writing on the approved form of any changes to your residential address, phone number or email address every time you make a change to any of these contact details. Should SuniTAFE have to issue you with a formal letter to attend an interview at DIBP because of unsatisfactory attendance or academic performance, and your residential address registered with SuniTAFE is not current, DIBP may automatically cancel your visa, which may result in your removal from Australia.

Notification of Change of Provider

You must notify SuniTAFE of your intention to move to another institution within seven days of issue of an Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE) by your new education provider.

Fees

For future stages of your course, SuniTAFE reserves the right to adjust annual tuition fees to take into account increases in costs. SuniTAFE undertakes to keep any adjustment factor to a minimum.

Scholarships

The Australian Government offers scholarships to students from participating countries. Contact AusAID for further information.
