Overview

This qualification reflects the many roles of community services staff e.g., case management, counselling and team leading who are involved in working, managing, coordinating and/or delivering of person-centred services to individuals, groups and communities. At this level, workers have specialised skills in community services and work autonomously under broad directions from senior management. Workers may also have responsibility for the supervision of other workers and volunteers and/or case management; program coordination or the development of new social welfare program opportunities. Due to recent national qualification package update from CHC52021 to CHC52025, this delivery is currently undergoing Community Workers Association (ACWA) accreditation, due to this accreditation can not be guaranteed. This course will contain discussions, media and assessment material that covers sensitive topics that can evoke strong emotional responses in some individuals, including: (for example, but not limited to) sexual violence, racial violence, family violence, abuse, racism and racial slurs, and other examples of overt racism, classism, eating disorders, self-harm and suicide. Please be aware that if you have any unresolved or unsupported trauma in your personal life this may be triggered by the content, please take the opportunity to speak to one of our teaching staff to discuss. This course has simulations, roles plays and presentations, these are designed specifically to develop skills ready for the real work environment and are a compulsory part of the curriculum and our assessment requirements to meet compliance for your qualification.

Course Delivery

Classroom - Training will be delivered on site at SuniTAFE. Online - Training will be delivered online. Blended - Training will be delivered both on site at SuniTAFE and online. Flexible - Students will undertake self-paced learning in their own time and location. This course requires the completion of 400 hours of mandatory work placement. Placement is arranged by SuniTAFE.

Entry Requirements

Applicants are required to undertake a Pre-Training Review to help confirm the course is suitable. Applicants must be willing to provide a Working with Children Check prior to undertaking placement and are responsible for all costs associated. Applicants must be willing to obtain a current clear Police Check prior to undertaking placement and are responsible for all costs associated. Applicants must be willing to obtain an NDIS Worker Screening Check prior to undertaking practical placement and are responsible for all costs associated. Applicants must be willing to provide proof of their up-to-date immunisation status including Covid-19 to employers to undertake practical placement, if requested. Applicants must be at least 18 years old prior to course commencement. Applicants must have access to a computer and the internet. Applicants are required to attend an interview with the Social Services department as part of the application process to help confirm if the proposed course is suitable. Applicants must confirm the understanding of the requirements of Practical Placement including the provision of Working With Children Check (Participant Placement Requirements Form)
