This course will give you the knowledge and skills to safely and responsibly work with chemicals. Some categories of herbicides & pesticides (Schedule 7) require chemical accreditation for purchase, use and application. Learn how to handle, prepare, apply, store and transport chemicals safely in this 2 day chemical accredited course. Learn to: Determine the need for chemical use and prepare an application plan, Prepare chemical mixes, Calibrate application equipment, Apply chemicals, Clean up equipment and complete records, Prepare to handle and transport chemicals, Handle and transport chemicals, Store chemicals in the workplace, Record storage details. This industry standard course allows you to develop the skills and knowledge required to assist you to comply with State/Territory licensing requirements for the purchase and application of agricultural chemicals in primary industries. Participants receive a workbook.
This course provides the required training for many Industry Quality Assurance Programs and is necessary to apply for the Victorian Agricultural Chemical Users. The Mallee region has undergone a period of significant growth since 2017. The Horticulture Industry is expected to need an additional 150 to 250 workers by 2022.* *Mallee Regional Skills Demand Profile – Pulse Check Sept 2021.
The two units AHCCHM307 Prepare and apply chemicals and AHCCHM304 Transport, handle and store chemicals provide credits towards the partial completion of a number of courses within the AHC (Agriculture, Horticulture and Conservation and Land Management) Training Package.
The course is delivered flexibly and part-time. 2 Day part-time classes are scheduled throughout the year at the Mildura, Robinvale and Swan Hill SuniTAFE campuses. Part-time courses can be delivered to groups of 10 or more participants off campus. Off campus flexible delivery is also available (Additional charges will be applied for off campus delivery).
There are no entry requirements for this course. Dress Code: Farm work attire e.g. Covered shoes, no thongs or shorts.
