Overview

Studying Kitchen Management at Sunraysia Institute of TAFE provides students with the practical cooking skills required for careers as a chef in food preparation as well as knowledge of food theory, kitchen operations, planning and budgeting and management topics.

Studying Hospitality Management at Sunraysia Institute of TAFE allows students to deepen their knowledge of the hospitality industry and prepare for supervisory and management roles which require customer service and business skills. 

 

SuniTAFE provides students with the ability to compete in cooking competitions, and many previous international students have been successful at receiving state and national recognition for their achievements.

Prerequisites
English Proficiency IELTS 6.0 Academic, 50 PTE Academic or equivalent test score OR successful completion of Upper Intermediate ELICOS at Sunraysia Institute of TAFE or a pathway partner.
Academic Requirements Successful completion of the equivalent of Australian Year 11 high school studies.
Other requirements Students must be at least 18 years old then they commence studies.
Course Progression Must successfully complete each level before progressing to the next qualification in the program.

Other Information 
Materials A uniform and knife kit is provided to all Kitchen Management students at no extra cost. There are no additional materials fees for ingredients unless make-up practicals are required.
Practical Component Students in the Certificate IV in Kitchen Management must undertake a total of 240 hours of practical placement. This practical experience may be undertaken in a combination of at the SuniTASTE Training Restaurant, as an unpaid practical work placement or relevant formal employment within approved local registered restaurant businesses.
Course Credits  Diploma of Hospitality Management – 28 units are required and up to 21 units will be credit transferred from the Certificate IV in Kitchen Management to the Diploma of Hospitality Management.
