Since our inception, SuniTAFE has actively pursued and maintained partnerships with government, industry, local businesses and community groups that bring a host of benefits to our students.
The Christie Centre is well known as a leader in providing disability services in the Mildura area. The innovative and values based approach of the Christie Centre aligns with SuniTAFE’s ethos. Operating a number of successful social enterprises and establishing itself as a key NDIS provider in the region, the Christie Centre is a vital stakeholder for SuniTAFE as it expands its offerings in the community health and social services disciplines.
Recently SuniTAFE and the Christie Centre have worked together on an innovative model to train workers in the (CHC30316) CIV in Disability qualification to ensure sufficient skilled workers to meet the demand of NDIS to the Loddon Mallee in early 2019. The two parties also collaborated on a state wide initiative to develop and implement a short course, Introduction to Disability, preparing new entrants for their careers in the sector.
SuniTAFE and the Christie Centre have a long history of training outcomes for clients who gain life and employment skills through horticulture and retail programs, many going on to secure meaningful ongoing employment.
The Mallee Regional Innovation Centre is a joint venture between the University of Melbourne, La Trobe University and SuniTAFE.
The two universities are committed to working together to draw on their collective technical expertise and SuniTAFE, as Australia’s No.1 training provider, plays a leading role in developing and rolling out training courses to ensure that the outcomes of the Research and Development are translated into effective capability on the ground.
SuniTAFE delivers the Job Ready Program aimed at assessing people who are awaiting Australian Citizenship in order to fill an identified skills shortage area.
A joint initiative of SuniTAFE’s Skills & Jobs Centre and SMGT, this pilot program offers school leavers, or young people wanting to embark on a new career, full time employment. Participants will be matched with a local host employer while undertaking a Certificate III in Production Horticulture (AHC30616), learning on-the-job and attending regular trade school blocks.
SuniTAFE and Agromillora Australia, as part of an international group based in Spain, signed a five year Memorandum of Understanding in 2016 for the planting of super high-density olives and almonds at the SuniTAFE Training Farm at Cardross. Hedgerow planting of these crops is new to Australia, and the SuniTAFE Farm forms an important trial plot to introduce and showcase the practice. The MoU allows both SuniTAFE and Agromillora to showcase the plantings to their respective industry partners. SuniTAFE will also use the plantings and the results/research from the plantings in its student curriculum, exposing SuniTAFE students to the newest horticulture methods and technology, preparing them well for their future careers. Agromillora can provide industry with access to this world best horticultural practice plantings.
(MRD) formed in early 2017, bringing together the former entities Mildura Development Corporation and Mildura Tourism. Since commencing, MRD and SuniTAFE have worked closely to advocate and strategise for business opportunities in the region.
Being a new organisation, MRD required branding and other collateral to launch with impact. A perfect opportunity presented for SuniTAFE’s design students to individually develop and ‘pitch’ their logo/branding concept to MRD. The result is the branding in use today, proudly showcasing student talent and our two organisations’ willingness to collaborate.
Providing the right conditions for growth through upskilling existing staff and training for a new workforce, SuniTAFE and MRD also collaborated on a number of projects that have laid a pathway for jobs of the future to ensure our region’s economic and social growth are sustainable.
